Do you like boiling baths? Your goldfish like moderate water temperature too.

Gettin the right water temperature for your goldfish is important.

Harald doesn’t like our fish to be too cold, so he always makes sure he adds warm water to the fish tank when he’s cleaning it. But adding too much warm water is bad.

I was sitting at my desk ready to work and ‘The Fat boys’, (that’s my two fantail goldfishes’ names) put their telepathy vibes on me. I knew something was wrong.

They were at the bottom of the fish tank one fish in each corner staring at me. ‘The Fat Boys’, are usually very active, and zoom around the tank all day long, so I knew something was wrong.

At first, I tried to send them telepathy vibes of love, hoping that would make them feel better. I’m sure my love did help, but their behavior still remained strange. Then in a panic, as I thought they were dying, I phoned Harald at work. He too, began to worry, and we decided to change the water.

As I changed the water, I realized the water temperature was really warm. Goldfish are cold water fish, and don’t like the water to be too hot. In fact, the heat burns them. So, I knew I’d managed to solve the problem, especially as they became themselves, zooming around once again.

The moral of this story is, the water temperature for goldfish can range between 4-30 degrees Celsius, but they like it best between 20-23 degrees Celsius. Just because we like warm and hot weather, it doesn’t mean that our pet goldfish like it too.
