Training goldfish takes time, but it’s fun

Can goldfish be trained? Yes, I think training goldfish BLOCK is possible, but you’ve got to be dedicated to your cause.

Goldfish have a very short attention span, anywhere between 4-9 seconds. They have a selective memory and can remember things that have happened in the past. It doesn’t take them long to quickly learn when it’s feeding time. But, learning to do tricks is a little harder.

I remember many fond mornings when Harald, my husband, would sit in front of the fish tank and sing to ‘Bubbles’ and Flash’. He would try to encourage the fish to swim from one end of the tank to the other in time to his song. Unfortunately, our fish just watched is behavior with amusement, as did I. But, if Harald had persisted in his morning antics, the fish might have followed his lead.

A fish has been trained to shoot a ball into a net. I’m sure the owner spent many hours training his goldfish, to do this.

I’ve also seen an amazing video clip of four synchronized fish swimming in time to music, and following hand signals, from their owner. It was incredible to see. Training goldfish is possilbe. So, maybe Harald wasn’t too far off with ‘Bubbles’ and ‘Flash’, he just didn’t persevere long enough.

I think training a goldfish is possible, but you have to spend many hours with your pets, and constantly reward them with delicious treats when they behave just as you want them too.
