Ryukin goldfish have a hypnotic presence
Ryukin goldfish
are beautiful fish. It’s not surprising to find out that this species of goldfish is very popular in North America and Japan.
The Ryukin is a ‘fancy goldfish’, and has real presence.
This fish has a very deep body. The depth of its body is almost the same as its length. It has a medium to long double tail fins, which it holds up high and swishes around with grace.
The sheer mass of this fish is a feature, but the most distinguishing feature is the hump behind its head. The bigger the hump the better quality the fish is. This hump-backed fish sounds ugly, but it’s a real beauty.
The Ryukin has presence, and is a strong swimmer. It loves to swim, so should be housed in a large
aquarium
of 10-15 gallons per fish.
But, this wonderful, graceful fish, does have a tendency of getting
Swim Bladder
problems. Because of this, you shouldn’t feed it floating fish flakes, but instead soaked sinking pellets, lettuce, spinach, peas and other green leafy vegetables. This goldfish species loves to munch on
aquatic plants
too.
The Ryukin goldfish is a delightful species of fish, and would be an excellent addition to any fish tank.
