Comet goldfish were aptly named for their speed and brilliant colors
Comet goldfish are wonderful pets. I had a couple of these fish for a while and was completely fascinated with them. They liked to float in the middle of the tank for most of the day, but in the evening they were as frisky as anything.
Comet goldfish
are really fast swimmers. They can zoom around the tank and in the blink of an eye they’re flashing around another area of your aquarium.
Because these fish like to swim, they should never be kept in a goldfish bowl. They need to be in a large fish tank that gives them enough room to zip around in, when they feel in the mood. Or even better, they are hardy enough to live outside in a pond, and of course living in a pond gives them tons of room to swim around in.
These fish are really social creatures, who love to play with other types of fish.
They have long slender bodies, are high in color, and have long tail fins. They aren't
fancy fish,
as they don’t have an extra pair of tail fins, but their simplicity and sence of fun, make them a charming addition to any fish tank.
Comet goldfish love food. Anything that will fit into its mouth is good eating. They like veggies such as: spinach, cucumber, lettuce, peas and fish flakes. Blood worms and tubifex worms are a real treat for these speedy swimmers.
These frisky, friendly fish tend to get the same fate as the
Common goldfish, which really makes me mad with frustration.
They are treated as feeder fish. How appalling!
These charming pets should be treated with more respect.
If you decide to invest in this type of fish you’ll be saving it from a potentially lethal feeding frenzy. Your home will have a wonderful new family member and you’ll have a great conscience knowing you did something to help this lightning of a goldfish.
