Nothing can gaze at the stars quiet like a Celestial Eye goldfish

The Celestial Eye goldfish, is unique. It is a ‘fancy goldfish’ with a double tail fin, but it doesn’t have a dorsal fin. It’s most amazing feature is its eyes.

The Celestial Eye goldfish has large protruding eyes that look upwards. Its pupils lay horizontally, or in other words, their eyes look like fried eggs, gazing upwards. When I first saw this goldfish I thought it looked sad, but I love its nickname ‘Stargazer’, and its eyes really do gaze up at the heavens.

Because this species of goldfish is looking upwards, its vision is limited. It should be kept with other types of goldfish that also have limited eyesight. This way everyone has a fair chance of finding food. For informaton on what to feed your fish, please click here.

Its eyes are very delicate so there shouldn’t be anything in the aquarium that could damage them. There should be sand on the bottom of the fish tank, and aquatic plants rather then silk ones, as they can sometimes be scratchy. This type of fish shouldn’t have a filter in the aquarium as this too could hurt their eyes.

Celestial Eye goldfish are very delicate fish and shouldn’t be considered by the beginner enthusiast.

These fish can come in many different colors, they are smaller than other species of goldfish, and can live up to 15 years if they are handled with care.
