Choosing the best aquarium for your goldfish is very important

When I first went searching for a goldfish aquarium I was compleatley overwhelmed. There are so many different sizes, colors, and styles of fish tanks, I just didn't know where to start.

The most important thing to remember is the bigger the aquarium the bigger the chances are that your family pet will live longer. When a fish lives in good conditions it can live up to 20 years. But, unfortunatley most fish live in overcrowded conditions and have a much shorter lifespan. When you bear this in mind you'll realize a goldfish bowl is really bad.

The perfect aquarium is big, or should I say huge. Some experts would say that each fish should live in a fish tank that's 40 U.S. gallons or more. Although this is pretty mind boggling at first it does make sence when you understand that a goldfish can grow upto 59cm and weigh as much as 3kg. This is rare, but compleatly plausable if your perfect pet has the right space to live in.

The best sized your fish. goldfish aquarium for the beginner is a 10 gallon tank, for each goldfish. By this I mean, if you have two fish, they should live in a 20 gallon tank. For more information on why, and where to keep your pets new home, please click here.

You also have to remember that your fish are living creatures and produce wastes. These are passed into thier environment and in time makes living conditions pretty awful. So again, a larger fish tank ensures less cleaning, and a healthier underworld environment.

Aquatic plants are an excellent addition to any aquarium. They put oxygen back into the water, and feed on your pets wastes. To find out more about aquatic plants, please click here.
